Comm 460 - Special Topics in Communications Studies: Science Communication
Environmental problems . . . public health . . . scientific research. In each of these areas, communication plays a fundamental role. From the mass media to individual conversations with doctors, from technical journals to textbooks, from lab notes to the World Wide Web, communication helps define individual problems, social issues and research findings. We will examine the institutional and intellectual contexts, processes, and practical constraints on science communication.

Examines the moral and ethical problems posed by communication practices. Topics include case studies in interpersonal communication, journalism, public relations, and advertising.
